Harper’s Garden…

Hello! This is Sherri from A Quilting Life!  Chelsi and I are pleased to introduce Harper’s Garden, our eighth collection for Moda Fabrics. As you read this, it’s on it’s way to your favorite quilt shop!

When we received this fabric earlier this year, we sewed up a storm, creating new quilts and coming up with ideas on what else we could make with these colors and prints.

Even though that was months ago, we still love Harper’s Garden and we’re excited to share it with you.

Harper’s Garden has a terrific mix of prints ranging from small dainty florals to medium and large florals.  Our large floral print has our signature whimsical feel and comes in five different color ways.  There are some terrific basics in this group – our favorite is a must-have cross-stitch print.

Because we both love scrappy quilts and mixing collections, Harper’s Garden works beautifully with Walkabout, Front Porch and Clover Hollow. (It’s also beautiful with what’s coming.)

Family Farm is a delightful row quilt finishing at 45 ½” x 60”. You can make this quilt with a fat eighth bundle and 3 yards of additional fabric for backgrounds, sashing and borders. Farm Fresh is QLD 178.

Vintage Charm is a fat eighth bundle quilt that finishes at 60” x 60”. It’s based on an antique quilt with Ohio Stars in the centers of the blocks. It needs 2 ½ yards of background and yardage for the outer border. Vintage Charm is QLD 181.

The Lily Quilt is the largest of our new Harper’s Garden quilt designs and finishes at 83 ½” x 83 ½”. This is also a fat quarter-friendly quilt. The blocks are pieced but simple appliqué is an option for the stem sections. The Lily Quilt is QLD 180.

Summer Shores is a fat quarter-friendly quilt that requires at least twenty fat quarters. Use some of the low-volume prints in the Harper’s Garden bundle for block backgrounds to add even more variety to this striking quilt. Summer Shores measures 62″ x 75″ and it is QLD 179.

Hearts at Home II uses two Honey Buns, about two yards of fabric for the hearts, background, borders and sashing, and it finishes at 48” x 57”. It’s a fresh take on the traditional log cabin with the cutest heart centers. There is a mini version included in the Hearts at Home II pattern.

Community is a sweet house quilt with hearts in the windows. Honoring the community of quilters and friends that have embraced, supported and cheered her on as she develops as a quilter and designer, Chelsi’s quilt is fat quarter-friendly and finishes at 57″ x 70″. Community is CSD 106.

Weekender is so much fun to make – and you can make it in a weekend! The pattern requires two Honey Buns and two Mini Charm packs, and two different low-volume prints from the collection for the sashings and borders. Weekender will also available as a boxed kit from Moda Fabrics.

Finally, Monarch. This classic, simple design is a Layer Cake-friendly quilt finishing at 66” x 66”. These delightful butterflies make for a perfect spring quilt.

We hope you will enjoy Harper’s Garden as much as we do!

  1. Congratulations! It’s a beauty. Looks like you will need a longer shelf in the last photo to display collection 8! Xox

  2. Your quilts are lovely and I love the way they can be used with other of your collections. What I don’t understand is why today’s collections more and more do not have a focus fabric?? Without it I can just use the fabrics that are already on my shelf.

  3. I love all of your quilt patterns and look forward the to newest collection. The Summer Shores was also offered as a free pattern in an earlier American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine, so I made sure to keep that one!

  4. I love this…..my kind of quilts….thank you for all you do for us….the pattern Summer Shores has my name on it….and the wonderful Hearts at Home…and the Vintage Charm…. oh my….oh my….they are all great……thanks again

  5. Love this collection! Thanks for sharing! All the quilts look simple but amazing! Can’t wait to get my hands on some precuts!

  6. Absolutely my kind of colors! I need a pattern for a baby quilt and I would love a suggestion to use with this fabric line. It’s so pretty.

  7. Love seeing all those delicious prints and colours in this new line – and sweet little Harper holding up her namesake fabric line. Adorable!! Beautiful patterns, Sherri and Chelsi!

  8. Can you please tell me where I can find the quilting name done on the log cabin with the hearts. I would like to make that log cabin but would also like to add that quilting to it.???

  9. Love all your collections! What color of fabric are you using for the background in Family Farm quilt?
