Block Heads 2 – Blocks 19 & 20

Happy Block Heads Wednesday!  It’s Betsy and Stacy’s day with Blocks 19 and 20.

This is the third week of six weeks with multiple blocks, then it’s back to one block per week.  Just in time for Market and the holidays!

A heads up… If the blogs aren’t up or the links aren’t working, check the Moda Block Heads 2 Archive.  Because if you’re reading this, it’s already been updated and it might just have what you’re looking for.

Today’s blocks were made by Moda Michele:

Block 19 – Rocky Road to California

The fabrics are from Rachel Remembered by Betsy Chutchian.

Block 20 – Go Fish

Isn’t that Cheddar gorgeous?  These fabrics are from Hope’s Journey by Betsy Chutchian.

So this week’s blocks are:

Block 19 – Rocky Road to California

Block 20 – Go Fish

Me?  It’s a long story but let it suffice to say that (1) my sewing room is mostly unpacked, (2) I have found the ironing board, (3) I was out of the office for a few days last week and I’ll have something interesting to share later this year.  And (4) the race is on to see if I have blocks finished for next week.

This was posted by Esther Veurink of Chicken Feed Quilts on Instagram.

These blocks are also from Instagram – French Goat Quilting.

Remember, if the blogs aren’t up or the links aren’t working, check the Moda Block Heads 2 Archive!  You’ll also find the links to the first eighteen blocks.

To see what the other Block Heads have done with these blocks, check out their blogs and Instagrams:

Then be sure to check the Moda Blockheads Facebook Group and the blocks being posted on Instagram – #ModaBlockheads

That’s it for Week 16 of the Block Heads 2.

Happy Wednesday!

  1. On the archives, when I clicked to go to the instructions for Block 19 Rocky Road to CA, I was directed to the directions for Block 18 Mishmash. Thought you’d like to know.

    1. Good morning Pat – Thank you. Actually, part of the “title” goes to Block 19 and part goes to Block 18. That’s what I get for trying to do a quick edit/copy/paste. lol It’s been corrected. 🙂

  2. I think I will put a little eye on the “GO Fish” block fish because at first glance I thought this was a sort of modern architecture type block…seriously…maybe it’s just me! Love the blockheads!

  3. I just moved, too! I have yet to get my new sewing table unpacked. I still need to get two large industrial racks washed off to put my much too large stash unloaded from five more boxes. I lost lots of storage space in my move, but I gained a sewing room which allows me to have all my stash in one place. Also, I don’t need to go downstairs to sew anymore. That is, when I get the racks cleaned and in place.

So, where did you move? Is it a bigger apartment or a condo or a house? Dearest Carrie, your readers are dying to know! We promise we won’t stalk you because we are much too busy trying to dig out of our own messes and also trying to do some good in the world around us.

  4. The fish body is obviously cut in one piece on your example here but it is pieced on the instructions page. Can you put the dimensions for that piece here somewhere?

    1. Hi Pattie – I hadn’t even noticed that because (1) I didn’t make this block, and (2) because I haven’t had a chance to sew in a few weeks, I hadn’t even read the instructions until you pointed this out! lol

So no guarantees on the size because I’m guessing here. If I’ve calculated this correctly, you’ll need the following pieces:
      – 2 rectangles – 2″ x 3 1/2″
      – 2 rectangles – 3 1/2″ x 5″
      – 10 squares – 2″ x 2″

  5. Question about 10th Anniversary Heritage – when does it come out? United Notions site says Sept and March ….. I know I am not reading this right but don’t know where to find the answer. My quilt shops are not carrying much repro these days…… and I am still resisting buying on computer… you know supporting the local quilt shop mentality…. so where in DFW do I find this collection and WHEN. ???? Thanks
