Quiltmaker 100 blocks tour

 to Moda Fabrics day
on the blog hop tour sponsored by Quiltmaker Magazine.

The 100 quilt block issue is such a great resource for block design, color placement and project inspiration. Quiltmaker reaches out to designers, bloggers, and graphic people for original quilt block designs. Each person makes their block, then sends it in to the magazine. Quiltmaker’s editorial team then photographs each block and creates instructions. Here are a few of the blocks in the newest issue made using Moda fabrics.

  1. Congratulations to all the Moda designer for their inspirational blocks. I would love a copy of this magazine because the hardcopy is not available in AUS.

  2. My quilting has been limited to basic square & triangle block patterns & I would love to add more complex & interesting blocks to my quilting repertoire. Thanks for the chance to win this fantastic book.

  3. I really hard to find a copy here in germany! So I hope to win and swoon all over these gorgous blocks!

  4. I love to combine quilt blocks to see a secondary pattern. This magazine would really expand my choices beyond the usual.

  5. I need a copy because I love the inspiration of everyone’s ideas and creativity! Beautiful blocks that you’ve shown here.

  6. Why I need block patterns? hmmmm….. I love blocks.. so versatile… runners, mini quilts, mug rugs, big quilts, cushions …. blocks open the doors to imagination….

  7. I need motivation and inspiration! Lately I have been in a slump and this issue would be just the thing to get the old creative juices flowing again! And I would love to make a couple of quilts for family this year for Christmas.

  8. There is no such thing as too many block patterns. I am always on the lookout for new ideas and inspiration and what better than a new collection of block patterns to pick and choose from. Thanks for the chance to win.

  9. It takes 49 blocks to make a 7×7 queen sampler quilt. There is a need to have 100 new blocks so can make two quilts this year! In fact, two 100 Block issues a year is perfect! I want to make every single block that I’ve seen in this blog hop.

  10. I am in a Flickr group called Add a border and I am always looking for different and neat blocks to try out to send on their way to the group. You never know what will happen out there!
    Mary Ann

  11. I would love a copy of this magazine as there are so many great blocks in it and new ideas to try out. I have all the other volumes. Thanks for the chance to win.

  12. You said the right word “Need” we all need this book for the great inspirations that the gals come up with! Thanks for giving me a chance to fill that “Need”!

  13. I am new to quilting, and we newbies always “need” some great ideas and new blocks for our projects. Thanks for a chance to win.

  14. Of course, everyone Needs this magazine, but I need them a lot when I participate in blog hops. They are always overflowing with great inspiration. Thanks for the chance to win.

  15. That’s like asking a quilter if they “need” more fabric. The answer would be, I can never have too much, (fabric, tools, patterns, thread, ideas or books) I plan to live to at least a thousand (I might use at all by then). ;-> I need this book, for more ideas. ;-> Toni Anne

  16. Sometimes magazine patterns are just old patterns with new fabrics. They are often beautiful, but I like seeing new and original patterns and the 100 Blocks issues have provided this every time! I have enjoyed every issue and love making these new blocks. So I definitely need this new issue! Thanks for the chance.

  17. I can envision these new blocks in quilts. I would love to have a copy of Quiltmaker 100 Blocks, Volume 7, so I can make some of them. I don’t have any of the Quiltmaker Volumes, so I would like to start my collection.

  18. I need 100 more quilt block patterns for the same reason I need 100 more yards of fabric…because MORE is BETTER! LOL! Seriously…. there is no such thing as enough. There is always something new and exciting! Thanks for the chance!

  19. You know, I don’t “need” more 100 blocks — I already have too many ideas to last me a lifetime — but, I “want” it. Those blocks give me so many ideas and I love to see the use of the fabrics and settings, and … well, it just kicks in the imagination!

  20. because I need to see the blocks through someone else’s eyes. We all tend to stay in our comfort zone. New ideas, new color combinations, and new inspirations.

  21. Inspiration of course! These mags are always interesting. Plus, I have a lot of fabric in stash and out there waiting for me to purchase, so I need more block ideas to use it up!

  22. Wow! What beautiful blocks and fabrics! I need to have this book of block to get me going in my quiltmaking since I have just retired!
    hulseybg at gmail dot com

  23. You can never have enough quilty inspiration. I would like to combine blocks and make a two-block quilt sometime. Thanks for the chance.

  24. Well…. I can not tell a lie…I NEED more projects like I NEED another whole in my head but….who can resist the amazing blocks in this new issue!!! Thanks for the chance!!

  25. It is a collector’s magazine from QM that you will use over and over again. It is filled with talented designers with their creative blocks that even you would have to have in your possession. I just want to win a copy so darn bad.

    Sandi Timmons

  26. I’m trying to climb out of my comfort zone and try some new blocks. Marmalade Flower and Trendster could push me in a new direction. Thanks for the giveaway.

  27. I would love to have this magazine as I am always spending so much time searching the internet for new block ideas. It would be nice to just go to the book to find one to try.

  28. I need 100 more Blocks….just because a gal can never have enough of a great quilty magazine!! Thanks sew much for this chance to win 😀

  29. I need 100 more blocks for sure. I am still a fairly new quilter. I couldn;t come up with a block of my own even if placed in front of a fireing squad. I need teh inspiration and expertise and advice and patterns that this offers. Thanks for the chance to enter.

  30. I don’t actually “need” the Quiltmaker 100 Quilt Blocks, but I crave it and can’t wait to look at all the fun and inspiration they will bring. Surely I will come up with lots of ideas on how to use them!

  31. Well, I have all the other volumes, which should help me live to be about 100 so I can try all the blocks. I need this latest volume so I can live to be about 125 and live to try the blocks in THIS volume!

  32. I need lots of block ideas! I’m fairly new to quilting (2 years) and need lots of inspiration. I mostly follow patterns, but would like to start using cool blocks to design my own quilts. I would love a free copy of 100 Blocks.

  33. I love the idea to have one magazine to find so many blocks to choose from so many designers. It gives me inspiration to stop and piece a block !

  34. i NEED 100 more quilt block patterns cuz sometimes more is more…

the word verifications to prove i am not a robot are “ryXpag” and “ashamed” … do you think Blogger is trying to tell me something?!?

  35. I am always looking for patterns that make great use of large designs and I am sure there will be some of those along with all the other fabulous ideas in 100 Blocks Volume 7!

  36. 100 Blocks HAS to be in my collection of blocks because of all the inspiration it contains in those pages!! I have the other six issues and refer to them ALL the time for creative sparks!! This one is looking to be the best one yet!! HAVE to have it or I’ll burst!!

  37. I need 100 quilt block patterns because I am new to quilting so I need all the inspiration and ideas I can get! I love looking at all these blocks and I get excited about the possibilities!

  38. Just the few blocks you showed gave me ideas on how to use some of the STASH! I’m trying to clean up my quilting/fabric obsession by sewing my way out of it all–a somewhat impossible task, I know, but the magazine could help me realize this dream!

  39. I am searching for the perfect block to paint and use as my barn quilt, but it will probably hand on my well house since I don’t have a barn.

  40. I would LOVE to have 100 more quilt block patterns! I wish I were more creative, but I’m just not. I NEED to follow other people’s patterns. Thanks for the chance to win!!

  41. I have not seen a block that I would not use yet. Absolutely love Edyta Sitar and the Silhouettes block does not disappoint. So nice and such beautiful Moda fabrics.

  42. I would LOVE to win this…. I am a fairly new quilter and love to design quilts around blocks but still need some guidance re putting blocks together.

  43. I’m always looking for new ideas and would love to have a copy of 100 blocks! Quiltmaker magazine is always full of inspiration so I’m sure the book is awesome!

  44. I like having so many different blocks in one magazine. I use them for times I need a quick charity quilt and when I am working on a challenge quilt.

  45. These issues are such great resources. Last night, thinking about which block I’d make for the MQG Boston, I pored over the previous issues. And you know how quilters are–100 new ideas are always welcome, always inspiring.

  46. I am just getting in to quilting and I am participating in several bees, so this issue would be great to add to my library of patterns!

  47. What a silly question. All quilters NEED this magazine including myself! It has inspiration galore and plenty of patterns to be had! And, I’m not going to like, it will complete the collection (I have all of previous volumes in magazine form).

  48. Need is relative ;-> , but I certainly would LOVE to have access to 100 more blocks! Looking at new blocks and designs gets my creative juices flowing, and makes me want to drop everything and start on a quilting project!

  49. Whenever I need inspiration, I go to the 100 blocks series and always find something new and fun. I don’t think you can ever have too many blocks to choose from.

  50. I need it because I LOVE magazines and I have so much fun with these editions. They’re all keepers and I plan on getting the software to make it easier to print.

  51. Well of course I ‘need’ 100 more quilt block patterns 🙂 I like to make one or 2 scrappy blocks a week to use up scraps and add a challenge in the midst of other quilts I’m making. It keeps me from wanting to make another quilt before I finish one I’m doing. But also I’m making one slowly anyway lol

  52. I need 100 more blocks so I can keep creating. I love putting together a sampler quilt with my favorite blocks. And, Edita Sitar’s block just may have me trying applique finally.

  53. I need this issue for the same reason I needed the other issues – it’s a fabulous resource! Where else do so many designers come together in one publication?

  54. I need this issue for the same reason I needed the other issues – it’s a fabulous resource! Where else do so many designers come together in one publication?

  55. Eye candy, and who doesn’t need candy, where would we be, but simple
one patch. For those fabulous 100
block designers they have the whole
candy dish. I for one could not get
the candy out of the bag, so I need
these books to get away from the boring quilts that can be mass produced. Thanks for the chance to
win and to see the blocks made up in
my favorite fabric lines. Moda is
    where it’s at!!

  56. QM 100 blocks lets me keep up with all the wonderful quilt designers and they show me new color choices and oh I just am hooked since the 1st Quiltmaker magazine came out way back when. Thanks you so much.

  57. Great job Moda designers! Need? LOL! I NEED 100 more quilt block patterns to use up all that fabric I NEEDED to bring home from all the quilt shops I get the pleasure of visiting!!

  58. This reminds me of when my children were young – “I need” not “I want.” I need a copy of the magazine because I am very inspired to get busy and piece, applique, paper piece, and embroider. These patterns are amazing and I’ve been making quilts (in my head) from each and every one of the blocks. Amazing!

  59. I would love to win this as I need all of the inspiration I can get. Just the few blocks I have seen are great. Thanks for the chance to win.

  60. I use my other issues of 100 blocks all the time. I like to try something I wouldn’t normally try and then see what I come up with.

  61. One hundred blocks…hmmmm…There would be something to try that is outside my comfort zone, I have a stash of fabric I should use, & I’m making a personalized, mostly paper pieced, quilt for my father that he gets a couple blocks at a time. ll_gee at hotmail

  62. One NEVER has enough block patterns. You can always find a new one that sparks your fancy! I’d love to win a copy of the magazine.

  63. As a quilter I can’t have too much fabric or too many quilt block designs. I love, love this issue and always make things using some of the block designs. Like a cook who reads cookbooks for the pleasure of it, I like to read quilt books, blogs and magazines.

  64. I made my first patterned quilt in 1984 and have not stopped since. Am making baby quilts now for grandkids and love seeing the new fabrics in these bright and beautiful blocks. I especially love the marmalade one. Would love to have this book as an easy reference as well as just eye candy. Thanks, Moda.

  65. A person can never have too many quilt blocks – there’s always something new to learn & enjoy. So I definitely need this new 100 Quilt Blocks issue. Thanks.

  66. Currently creating my first sampler quilt and I am still deciding on the next six blocks and their color combinations. Mathis book would certainly inspire me!

  67. I love having a magazine filled with blocks that I can use over and over again and mix and match together. One can never have enough patterns.

  68. I need more quilt blocks because I am always in need of more inspiration and motivation. Just looking at all of these blocks makes me want to start quilting right away.

  69. Why, you ask that I think that I need 100 more quilt block patterns?? Well it is because with issue #7, I will have all the Quiltmaker 100 block issues. That only means more to choose from. Thanks for the chance to win it.

  70. Ha ha! Why do I NEED more blocks? Because when it comes to creativity, more begets more! I love the inspiration that comes with seeing new blocks and their combinations in quilts.

  71. I’m still a beginning quilter and would LOVE some inspiration and creative ideas! Thank you for a chance to win. 🙂

  72. With 100 blocks I should be able to find color combinations and designs to please each of my four children, especially my 2 sons, so they will agree to let me make them a quilt! So fun! And the Moda fabrics in these blocks are beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration!

  73. I think it would be wonderful to have a magazine filled with different blocks to page through for inspiration. Thanks for the chance!

  74. I’ve recently started quilting again after about 30 years. I need some inspiration & this magazine will be a great help to me. Thank you for the opportunity to win one.

  75. The answer to your question is very simple. I NEED the next issue because I am constantly making the blocks from past issues to send off to other quilters in a Birthday Block Swap in which I participate. In fact, I just this week made 4 different blocks using volume 4. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the 100 Block issue!!!!!!!!

  76. Just started quilting in January and I am hooked. Would love the magazine for ideas, love the marmalade flower especially.

  77. I need 100 more blocks to help bring color (a.k.a. eye candy) to the eyes. Makes a quilter feel good. Thank you for the giveaway.

Have a super great sewing and stitching day!

  78. I’ve got issue 6, and it’s been a fabulous resource. I know that issue 7 will be even more fantastic, and I can’t wait to get a copy!

  79. I need 100 more quilt block patterns because I still have room n my bookcase shelf for at least one more quilt magazine. I have to have all of them….ok, I might be the next person on Hoarders…but I still want more quilt blocks.

  80. Beautiful fabrics! I need Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Vol. 7 because I make a lot of charity quilts and am always looking for something new to try. Thanks for the giveaway!

  81. I love making scrappy sampler quilts and also have lots of fabric to use up. !00 more blocks would be perfect for both. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

  82. I just started a row by row quilt with members of my small quilt group. I would love the magazine to get inspiration for my next row!

  83. I would like to have my very own issue of Quiltmaker 100 Quilt Blocks, Volume 7

New fabric designs & New block patterns with modern ideas to update traditional methods.
    Thank you in advance. 🙂

  84. The blocks are fabulous! Hmm, I don’t really “need” 100 blocks, LOL, I WANT it! Truly, I can never have enough inspiration. Thanks so much for a chance at the give-away!
    mgw070 at shaw dot ca

  85. I’m a new quilter (finished up my second quilt in March!). I’m still exploring fun blocks to make and what I’ve seen has given me so much inspiration already!

  86. The blog today showcases some beautiful blocks – a very diverse collection of designs and color and I want to do ALL of them! Volume 7 looks to be another inspiring winner!

  87. I love the blocks in today’s post! Very inspirational! I’m in the midst of making a sampler quilt to use my vast collection of red, white & blue fabrics.

  88. When I first became interested in quilting it wasn’t long before you were having the 2nd blog tour and I bought that copy. I have bought each one since that time and even ordered Volume 1 as well. HOW in the world can I stop now? I must have the next issue because you can’t break a fine set of china much like you can’t break a set of magazines that are full of just amazing information and great quilt blocks.

  89. I love that Quiltmaker puts these incredible issues
together with such great designs. I use them to put
together Sampler quilts for friends and family

  90. why I need my own copy of quiltmaker 100 quilt blocks Vol 7 you ask ? so I can make trendsetter, winter village, double crossed, whirly zig, my retro chair, and fancy free and all the other wonderful 100 blocks !!

  91. Love all these fabulous blocks!! I’m a newbie quilter so I don’t have alot of patterns yet. And this would give me alot of great quilt patterns and ideas to use. Thanks for a chance to win! 🙂

  92. Thank you for being one of the wonderful sponsors of Quiltmaker’s 100 this year. Moda Rocks!! I’d love my own copy as I’m such a visual person, it really helps me to see different blocks, colors, placement and lots of great inspiration!

Thank you and Quiltmaker for an awesome giveaway and a chance to win.

  93. I need 100 more blocks because you can never have to much inspiration and I have a stash that’s begging to be used so I can buy more fabric!

  94. Inspiration and cool patterns. And the fabrics used aren’t bad either(!). I’ve already decided I have to make quite a few of the blocks presented on the Blog Tour so far.

  95. It’s not just about the 100 new block patterns….it is about the fabric combinations used in each block. It is all about inspiration and practical application!

  96. I don’t know that I “need” anymore blocks but I certainly will use them so will that do. Afterall it is cheaper then a psychiatrist and healthier then candy, right?

  97. Don’t NEED but sure do WANT this magazine. Marmalade Flower, block #671 is awesome, as soon as I saw it, I could picture it in other colors and prints. Have 4 previous volumes enjoy looking for unusual block combinations, and having 100 at a time to look just thrills my quilty heart.

  98. My brother is getting married and I am searching for the perfect quilt to make for a gift. I would love to use some of the blocks from this to make it. Thanks for the opportunity.

  99. I am always looking for new blocks to use and this book would be the ticket. I’m loving all the blocks you showed today and can’t wait to sew some up for myself.

  100. I am always looking for inspirations with fabric combinations and patterns. The appliqués I saw really inspire me to explore appliqué more.

  101. Being fortunate to have a stash to draw fabric, these 100 block magazines are great resources to mix and combine blocks for quick and wonderful quilts. Thanks for your generosity. Judy C in NC

  102. Even though I’ve been quilting for a while it’s nice to go to a source that has just about everything in one place without having to remember where I saw it.

  103. Well, it’s like they say, “The more, the merrier!” I like to look at lots of options before deciding on one or two blocks that I’m going to be making for a project. If I’m going to spend the time sewing, I’ve learned to spend some up-front time picking just the right thing to sew. Having 100 more blocks to add to the mix would give me that many more options.

  104. I would love to own the 100 Block magazine. There are sew many great patterns and I want to make each of my 7 grandchildren a quilt for Christmas this year.!!

  105. Asking why I need more blocks is like questioning new additions to my stash! Each 100 blocks edition gives me new ideas not only for the blocks but how to combine them. Each edition is just fun.

  106. I have so many people asking me to make quilts for them I need new ideas to work from. I would love to win this!

  107. I need 100 more quilt blocks because I love the inspiration they create in me. I have used many to surprise my friends with gifts.

  108. As a new quilter I have quickly realized that I am more likely to think outside the box and do something unique than to follow a pattern exactly. In any of my crafts I have never followed a pattern exactly or even used the recommended fabrics or yarns, and usually different colors. I look at it in my way and personalize everything I do. I love looking at different blocks, figuring out how to put them together and then creating my own version. I love this book because the inspiration is going to be very varied. That’s one reason why I love Moda fabrics and recipes, unique, quality inspiration makes a recipe for a great foundation of success.

  109. I need more block designs because they give me so much to choose from. I never realize how many different blocks there are until I see you show some from your magazine. And it’s not just the usual, traditional ones.

  110. Because, new or old (experience not age!), you can’t always have more quilt inspiration! New fabrics on new blocks, old blocks tweaked to create new blocks….it’s all wonderful! Good job!
